Great Western ShootoutSTORY / GAMEPLAY
Great Western Shootout is a classic shooting gallery game, same as the popular Operation Wolf and the like. The game's story takes place in the Wild West where outlaws swarm your town. Your mission is to travel from location to location killing bad guys in exchange for bounty from the sheriff. You move a crosshair with the mouse and shoot the villains as they peek out from a variety of cover spots (i.e. windows, rocks, trees etc). Note that if it takes too long to shoot any outlaw, he will shoot you first decreasing your energy bar. More on that, you must watch not to shoot innocent civilians as they also peek out on screen, otherwise a part of your health will be instantly lost! (Hint: the outlaws always wear cowboy hats!). Fortunately there are times when medicine packs appear on screen, but for a limited time. The game can be played in single or two-players mode! Great Western Shootout is a nice game but difficulty increases enough as you progress. Although the mouse is not that responsive, which makes the gameplay frustrating at times, the game still offers some good fun!

GRAPHICS / SOUND
The graphics look fine and each location is nicely detailed although most of the backgrounds are static. The only animated objects here are the outlaw sprites, the civilians and the crosshair of your revolver. Each character is nicely animated but the overall slow action of the game is somewhat annoying. The sound is adequate enough with some nicely sampled gunfire sound effects but no music during gameplay.
